Brad Allan Hinds, passed away on Saturday February 17, 2024, at his home in Dexter, New Mexico. Brad was born to Larry Allan Hinds and Jean Annette Speer on March 9, 1961, in Laredo, TX. Brad was a star football player at United and ultimately graduated from J. W. Nixon High School. From an early age, Brad was introduced to outdoor sports by his grandfather Erle Speer who managed the John Deere farming properties. It was here that he learned to fish in the Rio Grande, hunt deer and catch wild boar. These early beginnings were the spark that ignited a lifelong endearment of everything hunting, fishing and outdoors. An expert bowhunter, Brad spent countless days on the Huisache and Randado ranches in South Texas, honing his skills for a long dreamed of hunts for bear in Alberta Canada and Spiral Horn Slam and The Hartmann’s Zebra in South Africa. Specifically, Namibia and Botswana, which he considered the pinnacle of his experience. Sport fishing red snapper offshore in Port Mansfield and hunting birds such as quail, pheasant and dove, the latter his favorite. One of his most prized accomplishments was the honor of sitting at the Esquina de Millon in Cordoba, Argentina after yielding a high volume of dove, which is an honor extended to only a few elite, highly skilled hunters.
Brad loved to get together with friends and family to share the bounty. An adventurous foodie, among his favorites: venison and mollejas. A perfect day would be with the Cowboy's taking a big win. Brad never missed a Cowboy's game and proudly flew the Lone Star flag for every Texas college and professional team in all sports.
Brad worked long hours on a CNC punch press helping build buses at TMC and Nova Bus in Roswell for over ten years. Following this, he used his charm and gift of gab to become a top producing salesman with AmeriPride services. His successes in sales fueled his love for travel. He was awarded top accolades numerous times along with trips to Belize, Cabo, and Playa Del Carmen.
He is preceded in death by his mother Jean Speer and grandparents Bob and Celeste Hinds and Erle and Marian Speer.
Brad leaves behind many he loved deeply and they wholeheartedly in return: Son, Joshua Berry of Roswell, NM, father, Larry Hinds of Ingram, TX, siblings, Bobby Hinds of San Antonio, TX, Brenda Hinds of St. Petersburg, FL and Wayne Hinds of Clearwater, FL. Uncle, Dr. Norman Speer and his wife Cristina Zorilla Speer both of Laredo, TX and his dearest friend, Harvey Bruce of Roswell, NM. As well as cousins, nieces and nephews.
Brad was a masterful storyteller, keenly smart with a wicked sense of humor. He was always ready with a captivating story or a lavish joke.
