Brigida Aguayo Blanco

Brigida Aguayo Blanco passed away on Monday, March 21st at the age of 84. Brigida was a life-long resident of Laredo. As a child growing up, Brigida was surrounded by love, laughter and all the mischiefs that comes from being in a large family.Brigida attended Catholic schools, graduated from Martin High, and took business courses at Laredo Junior College. Brigida enjoyed singing and was a member of the Guadalupe Church Choir; where she met her future husband Manuel, they married in 1962. Through the years, they both continued their love of singing with the Blessed Sacrament Church Choir.Brigida began as a teller at the Laredo National Bank and quickly worked her way up the corporate ladder to become First Vice President in the Investments Division. After 37 years of service, Brigida retired with one of the largest client portfolios at the bank. Her work allowed her to travel extensively and to develop life-long relationships with her clients.Brigida with her husband Manuel developed a fondness for traveling. Their travels consisted of cruises on the Rhine River in Germany, sightseeing the Hagia Sophia in Turkey, attending The Shakespearean theatre in England, and visiting the Eiffel Tower in France. Of all her travels, Brigida’s favorite place was the Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria.Brigida is preceded in death by her parents Juan de Dios Aguayo and Dolores Ponce Aguayo and her brothers Antonio, Juan (+Sylvia) and Oscar Aguayo.Brigida is survived by her husband of 60 years, Manuel B. Blanco, and their three children: Patricia (Ricardo III) Garcia, Manuel (Viqui) Blanco Jr., and Leticia (T.P.) Sanchez. Also surviving are her sisters Dora (Robert) Pearson, Angelina (+Julio) Trevino, Ester (+Thomas) Milam, Dolores (Jerry) Hartman, Frances (Bayani) Del Rosario, Teresa (+David) Crawford, Ana Maria (Ramiro) Martinez, Veronica (+Alejandro III) Villarreal, and brother Miguel (+Marge) Aguayo.  Brigida is also survived by her granddaughters Dr. Elysia Garcia and Monica Garcia, as well as and numerous nieces and nephews.Brigida lived a fulfilling life as a sister, wife, mother, aunt, businesswoman, and world traveler. She was a fighter and survivor of breast cancer.She has now earned her angel wings and a well-deserved rest in the company of our Lord and Redeemer, Jesus Christ. May she rest in peace.

The family will receive condolences on Friday, March 25, 2022, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Aguero Funeral Home and Crematorium, 4402 E. Saunders St., Laredo, Texas 78041. A rosary will be held at 9:00 a.m.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. from Aguero Funeral Home and Crematorium to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for a Holy Mass at 11:00 a.m.Interment will be held at the family plot at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
