Petra Longoria Romero

Petra Longoria Romero, 92, of Laredo, Texas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at the home of her daughter Tomasita Sanchez, where she resided with for the last eight years. Petra was born October 19, 1929, in Alice, Texas. Petra was the daughter of the late George and Tomas (Suarez) Longoria. Petra is survived by her children Tomasita Sanchez of Leonard, Texas, Raul Romero Jr., Javier Jesus (Gloria) Romero, Alberto (Lhassania) Romero of Lanham, MD, and Rebecca R. (Brian) Travis of Columbia, MD. Petra has 10 grandchildren Oscar Sanchez Jr., Raul (Mary) Romero III, Erica (Ricardo) Solis, Margaret Romero, Alberto (Kiona) Romero, Katarina Travis, Corinne Travis, Javier Romero, Jonathan Romero, and Jacqueline Romero, 8 great-grandchildren Benicio Solis, Mateo Solis, Justine (Ruddy) Madrigal, Jazzmin Atherton, Daisy Atherton, James Shumway, Zoie Romero, Gabriela Romero, and 1 great-great grandson Jaiden Perez.Petra was a loving wife to Raul S. Romero who recently passed this year. Along with her husband and parents, Petra is preceded in death by her siblings; Alberto Longoria, Elida Ellies, Adelina Hodge, Paul Longoria, and Celestine (Celia) Kinney, grandchildren; Gabriela Romero Shumway, Jorge Romero, and Son-in-Law, Oscar Sanchez.Petra Romero was a gem of a women who adored all her grandchildren. As a grandma, she would look over all her grandchildren, teach them all how to cook, wash clothes, and taught them responsibilities. Living one block from Nixon High School, she always made sure to have lunch ready for her children and grandchildren when class was out.The family wishes to thank her primary care physician, Dr. Elham Ziai-Jamalabadi, MD, Baylor Scott & White Health. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 25, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Aguero Funeral Home and Crematorium, 4402 E. Saunders St., Laredo, TX 78041. A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m.Funeral services will be held Monday, September 26, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. from Aguero Funeral Home and Crematorium to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church for a Holy Mass at 11:00 a.m. to celebrate the life of Petra Longoria Romero.Inurnment will be held at a later date.
