Ricardo Rafael Ruiz entered into his eternal glory on January 13, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. Ricardo was a proud truck driver who found his calling on the open road exploring the country, one mile at a time. Beyond his life on the road, Ricardo was deeply devoted to his family, friends and faith. He had a personality as big as the skies he traveled under.
He was loud and proud—never afraid to speak his mind or fill a room with laughter. His sense of humor was larger than life, and he had an uncanny ability to turn even the simplest moments into something memorable. Whether it was a quick-witted joke, a playful tease, or a booming laugh, Ricardo’s energy radiated so high that he never met a stranger—he had a gift for turning anyone he encountered into a friend. His warm, outgoing nature and genuine interest in others made him beloved by all who crossed his path. He was the kind of person who could strike up a conversation anywhere and leave a lasting impression of kindness and camaraderie.
Ricardo was a devoted Christian whose faith was his foundation on how he lived his life. Through God’s grace, he found the strength to overcome challenges, trusting in the Lord’s plan. He showed unwavering kindness, hope, and love while embracing every blessing with heartfelt gratitude. His life embodied the strength of his faith. He will be remembered for the love, joy, and encouragement he brought to those around him.
Ricardo is preceded in death by his father Leopoldo Ruiz Jr, mother Belia R. Ruiz, brothers, Clemente Ruiz and Roberto L. Ruiz. Left to memorialize his life are his children Vanessa Rodriguez, Justin Gonzalez, Roman Rafael Ruiz, Noah Richard Michael Ruiz, and Italia Victoria Ariel Ruiz.
Surviving siblings are: Rodrigo Ruiz (Laura), Patricia Lee Furbacher (Stephen), Anna Laura Ruiz, Rogelio Francisco Ruiz (Sandi), Leopolodo Ruiz, III (Carmen), Teresa Guerra (Luis+), Dora Santos (Juan+), Eduardo Ruiz (Cindy), Rosario Galindo (Ramiro), Jesús Ruiz (Monica), Gabriel Guajardo, Juan Leopoldo Ruiz (Lily) and sister in law Elma Ruiz. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A vigil to commemorate Ricardo’s life will be celebrated from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a recitation at 7:00 pm on Saturday, January 18, 2025, by Pastor Guillermo Hernandez at Agüero Funeral Home & Crematorium, 4402 E. Saunders St., Laredo, TX 78041.
Inurnment will be held at a later date.
