Rick Cortez, 63, of Laredo, Texas, joined our Lord in his heavenly kingdom on April 29, 2024.
He is preceded in death by his mother Maria B. Cortez and his brother Reuben Cortez.

to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years Norma Nora Cortez, his father Raymond (Oralia) Cortez, his beloved daughter Reba Marie Cortez, siblings Raymond B. Cortez and Rhonda Marie Cortez, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Rick was born in Carrizo Springs, Texas, was raised in Asherton, then Laredo, Texas. He was a proud graduate of JW Nixon High School. Law enforcement was his calling. He worked as a Webb County Sheriff's Deputy, and then moved on to work for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement as a federal agent for 29 years. Even after retirement from the federal government, Rick continued his career in law enforcement with United ISD as a police officer. He will be remembered for his courage, sharp wit, and gracious heart.
